A DEATH IN THE DESERT

"A Death in the Desert" blurs fact, fiction, theory, experience, and interpretation through two artists' collaborative investigation into the death of David Stone, a stock market analyst who disappeared on rural NM 80 while traveling from California to Texas in 1988. Police found strange clues in his car an nearby in the desert wilderness but almost none of it could be deciphered. Stone's mysterious disappearance has been a continuous topic of interest and is still the subject of many theories found in several obscure online forums, yet his cause of death still remains a mystery twenty-nine years later. In this exhibition Katelyn Bladel and David Campbell explore how artists interpret, present, and create information, and perhaps even more significantly, post the question: what if we have all the information, but we still don't have the answers?

In collaboration with David Campbell, June 2017.
